No cooking pots in back pockets of jeans 😎

Recommended Posts

I have a suggestion that I thought about years ago. I think it would be very good idea to add different pocket sizes to clothing that match the actual space you can use in a pocket. For instance - rather than having 6 X 5 squares space in a shirt you could have 3 X 5 and a second one 3 X 5. What do you think ?

it would certainly be more realistic... but at the same time make the game a pain to play XD

imagine building a base.... gathering the tools, would consist of you running back to your desired baselocation, for almost every item you find.

That could be fixed too. Some items could be smaller in the inventory like they really are. Backpacks could have more storage in the means of having pockets and slots for attachments. And consider that many people don't build bases.

That would also means that most gun couldn't be hidden in inventory, look at a size of vsd when on your back, it's way longer than the height or width of even field back pack and yet magically I can fit 3 of them inside and still have room for few mags. Same goes for hiding smg's in jackets.

While the idea does makes sense and I kind of like it the problem is the lack of improvisation that's the problem in any game including dayz, while it would be tricky to hide a glock in a pocket of most trousers in real life I could go with the trope of sliding it between the trousers and my back. Similarly if I have a full backpack but found a ghillie suit that I want to take I could tie it with a bit of the rope to the outside of the backpack.

Another thing I'd like to see is items in backpacks not having quick access. The fact that someone can pull a gun out of their backpack as quick as if it was on their shoulder is ridiculous. You should have to take the backpack off to access it, with the exception of some small side pockets.

I wouldn't risk putting my gun in my trousers if there is a chance to fall when I run. Maybe more craftable items like the improvised belt could fix that. I'm a big fan of the idea of putting a different button for accessing the backpack that should be held for a few seconds. And no items from backpack in the hotbar

Fortunately there is no risk of falling in dayz when you run. Improvised belt is already in game, you'd still need a holster with that, although I don't know if it has a slot for one.

Agreed with the post.
Primary purpose of clothing should be insulation from the weather (with few exceptions as vests). Primary purpose of backpacks should be storage.

I don't get why Hiking backpack has same number of slots as a Hunting jacket.
So +1 to the pocket idea/resizing inventory.

It was long overdue to do so. Pistols in a T-shirt, submachine guns in pants, car batteries in jackets... People should value backpacks and other similar containers more. But there will definitely be a need to rethink the size of most things. And, as already mentioned, quick access to things in a backpack should be removed.
