Power Of Server-Admins?

hey,

just wondering. what powers do server admins have? my brother managed to steal someones helicopter (they just landed it pretty close to the coast, moved away somewhere and didnt guard it at all). a minute after my brother flew away with their heli the server restarted. when it was back up my brother had lost the heli because it had not safed. i guess he should have landed it and saved it? would it then still be where he left it after server restart? maybe it was a scheduled restart but that would be quite a coincident.

anyways, my question is: how much power do server admins have?

can they

- shutdown their server after they died/lost stuff to prevent saving?

- can they kill people using some kind of command?

- can they fly around the map invisible or something else to track ppl around the map?

anything else?

They can restart, lock and change the population cap. That's about it.

They can't roll back "saves" or kill people or teleport or fly or none of that shiat.

Not to say it's wouldn't be possible via hacking scripts etc but anyone can do those, not just admins.

Stuff like this is NEVER a coincidence.

Server admins seem to abuse their powers all over the place, often in this exact way.

Other times, they lock down their servers for "testing", rounding up all the vehicles while it's locked.

I can't say I blame them.

After all, good DayZ servers aren't cheap, and you basically get nothing in return for hosting one.

But it still sucks.

Server admins can shut down/restart server, that is all. The other things you mention are from hackers not admins.

yeah its pointless hosting your own server since everything is done via hive... I wouldn't pay flipping £40 for a 50 slot tbh, unless you have like 10 people all donating otherwise FUCK NO

Remember only a few (old) servers have helis enabled. If you see them on a new server, someone hacked them in. AFAIK, hacked servers do no save, so they will despawn after a reboot.
