I dont think our character should be all-knowing

What i mean by this is when you pick up a gun you know the exact amount of bullets in the mag + if the gun is chambered or not. Also knowing  the amount of charge or what liquid is in a container, our character shouldnt know that. And finally why is there an icon to show dead survivors? isnt that the purpose of checking a pulse i dont get it.

I totally agree with that. The absolute definition of an oxymoron lol ;)

It's a game though and some things are just not as much fun if you try and make them more realistic. I'd rather pretend that i've already counted the rounds than have to do it myself. Some 'hardcore' servers force you to do this and it only makes things more tedious. I also like to assume that all items i put a battery in have some kind of meter or at the very least a low battery light. 

Although they can be a challenge to play some of these servers that make you keep your finger on left click for 3 minutes just to light a fire with a hand drill kit, it's really not the most interesting mechanic! I certainly wouldn't wish for it in the core game.  Cooking on a stick is already dull enough, especially when i real life my stick would look like a shish skewer and my potatoes would be happily cooking in their skins in the embers 😄

Maybe the game doesn't need to be so unplayable. The game like this would have no players, perhaps. So it wouldn't last as long as it has. But I don't disagree with anything.

No not really, all you would have to is make a check mag option a small action is done for 2 seconds and that shows the ammo count
