Magic392 1 Posted January 13, 2023 I have: 1) i5-3470 2) geforce gtx 650 3) 8GB Ram All game settings are on minimum and the resolution of the game is 1280x720 While playing a game at random moments the game folds to half (I see part of the desktop). Sometimes instead of minimizing at random moments a black screen appears (I do not move, I can not hear the sounds, etc.). When a black screen appears or when the game is minimized, I can not do anything. I can not minimize the game completely or open the launcher. All I can do is open the task manager and close the process. I can't even see the task manager, it doesn't show up, I have to close the game at random using the keyboard. This happens even when I'm not on the server but just sitting in the main menu. I've tried: 1) Start the game as an administrator 2) Change the swap file; 3) Change the resolution of the desktop; 4) Update all drivers and also try to download old driver for videocard; 5) Reinstall the game 6) Change compatibility of the game with Window Vista 7) Turn off the optimization full screen in the properties of the game
nemorus 261 Posted January 13, 2023 Sorry to say it but your problem is pretty much hardware oriented. 8gb is a bare minimum for a game - but what about os? what about every other program that your computer is running in a background? Memory is not made from rubber - it won't expand on its own. You need to have at least 16gb nowdays. Its THE standard nowdays like 8gbs was a decade ago. GPU isn't good enough as well. I was having similar problems years back because of my old GPU. "DayZ" needs something better than measly 650. Also check your hard drive - best scenario is decent SSD (speed-wise). The only thing that should suffice is your CPU - i mean i was playing this game on i5 760 (first gen) not too long ago.
I understand that my computer is weak, but the problem is in the game. I can go into the game, (without going to the server) just sit in the main menu and wait. After a while the game will collapse or a black screen. In the main menu, the system is not loaded. Edited January 13, 2023 by Magic392
nemorus 261 Posted January 13, 2023 Ask developers through their support platform and they will probably give you the same answer - your pcs components are lacking. "DayZ" is not your usual video game. It had multiple small patches over the years which forced its requirements higher. So what if you're not playing but just sitting in menu? Program is still taking memory, the longer it works the more it takes. It makes sense that your pc is crashing one way or another - it can't withstood "DayZ" needs. https://feedback.bistudio.com/project/view/2/ - ask them if you're unconvinced. lemmac 101 Posted January 14, 2023 Your ram is probably ok, 8GB should suffice. It's the Vram on your card that's lacking. Which is what 1 or 2 Gb? This should be at least 4 to 6 these days. CPU probably fine, according to Nvidia performance monitor my cpu is barely used, 5 to 10% max, while gpu maxes out at about 75% with all settings to high/extreme. Nemorus is correct in that there's little difference in system resources used in game or in menu. Funnily enough i have experienced similar crashes as you described, loss of sound, capture of mouse cursor, could only navigate task manager with keyboard. Those happened when i put the SSD the game and mod files are installed on in a USB hub instead of its own USB port suggesting that disc access speeds are also a big issue. It certainly made a noticeable difference on my PS4 to run it from fast usb SSD rather than the built in spinny drive.
