BlueVeee 0 Posted April 24, 2022 It’s been a major gripe since people started playing official DayZ, Chenarus is huge, which is great. however a big problem seems to keep coming up within my friend group AND reddit, Twitter and other sources, this being not only is the player population cap far to small for how large in scale the map is, but we also REALLY need new maps (console mainly, would be more than happy to purchase maps like DLC example being Livonia) modded servers have for years shown that the game can run with relative ease on 80-120 slots with tons going on within the world as well. im not entirely 100% sure what goes into making a server work for DayZ, but a large culling of official servers, and then addition of a slot increase from 60 to at least say 80 players or more if servers can handle well would go far into making travelling inland a little more eventful. I’m aware this is by design, however I feel even with another 20-40 players on the map, inland Chenarus would still be relatively quiet, just with a way higher likely-hood of activity, which to me at least, seems to be the first of few additions needed to making adventures more engaging. Now for the map, Chenarus is amazing, gorgeous map with tons of detail and memorable places, however once again, we need more. Quality over Quantity, is what I’ve heard from those defending the limited maps within console/vanilla DayZ. Personally I feel 1 new map a year wouldn’t hurt anything, and if the original creators of modded maps such as Namalsk, deer isle etc, would be willing to make their maps official and perhaps get a light cut of the funds raised via seeking the maps as DLC, maybe that’d be a good move? I don’t claim to have knowledge on the map design process, my map building and understanding goes as far as Halo forge. I personally believe that people wouldn’t hesitate to buy more DLC maps if it meant new adventures to be had within the outstanding and amazing game DayZ is, a player slot increase would solidify the encouragement to go inland and adventure, knowing for a fact you can get into encounters if it’s a high population server, and more maps would encourage players to stay longer and spend money the game, increasing player retention and keeping a steady fan base even more stable than before. I love DayZ, and while I don’t have a lot of game time anymore growing up, it’s the ONLY game that I come back to and enjoy all the time. Cheers for reading. What? There are too many problems to list. We're not even close to 'relative ease'.
Nollakaks 4 Posted April 29, 2022 60 players is enough. Add 20 more and it makes no difference to anything but server performance.
eZthetic 22 Posted April 29, 2022 (edited) OP you don't really seem to know what you're talking about. You seem to be one of those 1-post people that come here for once to just massively complain without contributing anything useful and never return.
