DefectiveWater 539 Posted January 6, 2022 Yellow temperature already causes the player to wipe his forehead. Would be a cool addition if it also made player's clothes get progressively more wet, or at least damp. Also should decrease players hydration value a bit faster.
General Zod 1118 Posted January 6, 2022 I don't know if you ever been camping but when sitting next to a fire you'll get burned before you start to sweat so much that you end up with wet clothes. Also the very same heat that you want to result in wet clothes would dry said clothes if you are this close.

What's the point of it right now? The only thing your character does is he exhales air and wipes his forehead (is there anything else that I'm missing?) If you are sweating you should lose water. Clothes drying out cause of fire is fine (I never mentioned fireplaces anyway), you are still losing water. Yellow temperature/sweating should be a thing, maybe a stamina rework where player has more stamina at the cost of sweating. "The cold-wet problem – the bane of arctic warriors (DayZ isn't set on Arctic, but still, map is cold) Management of sweat in cold environments is a key trained behavior important to prevention of cold injury." - https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S144024402030832X EDIT: Apparently according to WOBO's 1.10 video, yellow temperature makes you lose 0.01 energy/sec. I don't know if there have been any changes to it since then. Edited January 9, 2022 by DefectiveWater
General Zod 1118 Posted January 9, 2022 With current ridiculous water and energy consumption adding sweating is going to force you to live by the water wells. The cold wet problem in your article is referring mostly to wetness that's not from sweating. Also in real life I could just make a longer stick and sit further away from the fire or just a smaller fire so that I can achieve a thermal comfort, neither option being available in the game. Also what we need in the game is more waterproof clothing, military and hunting options for that should be available. I have a lovely set of hunting clothes which are both water and wind proof, you could open hose on them and all the water will just roll off. In fact this a great idea for devs for next couple of patches. Instead of adding another rifle that literally no one needs or asks for start adding things like waterproof clothing or even additional slots for base layer.

Agreed on all of that, but my question still stands. What is the point of yellow temperature? It almost does nothing in the game. Especially agreed on more clothing variations. I have no idea why they made current hunger/thirst deplete as fast as it does, they could've just reduced the amount of food. Hopefully Livonia changes bring more survival elements into the game, now the only survival aspect is looting canned beans...
General Zod 1118 Posted January 11, 2022 I noticed today when cooking a lot of food on my own wearing full pristine hunting clothes (best insulation) and during a sunny day that after a while of red temperature my health started to go down.

Yeah, red temperature does cause HP loss, that's why I'm wondering why yellow does almost nothing. Blue temp causes food loss and possible sickness, dark blue causes hp loss too.

To be fair when sitting down with yellow temp the hydration gauge will alter between one and two down pointing chevrons, so I think it does something.
Shift 25 Posted January 24, 2022 Yeah yellow temp should increase hydration consumption.
