How to fight campers?

Recommended Posts

ok so recently i made my first attempt into the NW airfield and as i was going into the northern barracks i was shot by a guy sitting in the corner aiming at the door. I was wondering if anyone had any tactics if a single person or a group of 2 or 3 were to try to enter a building in a situation involving campers.

In those barracks you can look through the windows and see virtually every square inch, theres nowhere to hide. You didn't do a good enough job of scoping it out. You could also use 3rd person view to look around corners before entering if your server allows it.

A camper will hear your footsteps, so he might turn to cover the windows. Try throwing smoke/grenade down the hallway, but practise throwing first. Also windows can change the direction/reduce the damage of your bullets, so make sure you fire several times.

i was about to look into all the windows but it was to dark to see inside and the one thing i did do in case someone was there was tap the W key so i would be able to move slowly without making any noise. I guess it was just a lot of bad luck to because there were only five people in the server.

Be the groundhog.

Beyond that, you just have to hope for the best. Server-swapping is always a danger no matter how careful you are. Just don't get too attached to your survivor. Understand that you ARE going to die. Everyone who is truly playing the game will die eventually. The only way to guarantee survival is to never log in.

With the amount of server hoppers right now' date=' odds are someone will spawn in on you anyways when you are looting

Yep this is exactly what happened to me after days of surviving and gearing up. VERY FRUSTRATING AND CHEAP.

Like zed said, dont get too attached to your stuff because you will eventually die one day without knowing

I had this exact situation happen the other day, but I was on the other end of the rifle.

I had just finished checking the last room of the NW Airfield northern barracks and, as always, I check the window before starting back down the hallway. Just as I peek out, I see a guy through the window to my left crouch run accross the open grass towards the barracks. I know I'm trapped like a rat in there (I don't DC, I take my medicine like a man) and don't plan on waiting to see if he's my long lost friend or a meanie (NW Airfield: KOS rules generally apply). So, I quickly get behind the door at the end of the hall, lean over, and wait a few seconds. Right on cue, he barrels through front door and I put three M16 rounds into him and he dies.

Had he just waited 15-20 seconds and scouted the barracks from a distance first (I myself watched for several minutes before going in) instead of running to it like it's a time-trial, he would have easily tagged me in the head on my way out. Of course, he probably thought I was 'camping' in there, but I'd actually only been in there a couple of minutes and on the server for a couple of hours.

That said, I'm getting sick of the server hoppers, too. It's absurd that when you are in the airfield hangers that not only do you have to watch the hanger door for other players, but you also have to keep checking BEHIND you (where there is no entrance) in case some server-hopping douche logs in the back corner and puts one in your back. One of my first deaths happened that way.

Just know where hot spots are and check bushes first... too many fags sitting and waiting for nothing. So make sure you'll knock their ass up when you come from behind. Works great now after being traped sometimes.

Wait for 1.7.2 with beartraps.

Set them in corners of popular buildings where server hoppers come in at.

Feed on their tears.

Just stay away from the NWAF until something (if ever) is done to stop the hopping. That's all you can do, really. Either that or hope you get lucky.
