Server FPS and CPU Usage

Recommended Posts

hey. can someone helping me about running a server.

VPS info :

intel xeon e5-2667 v2 3.30GHz - 8 core cpu

ram 14GB - FRQ 1888

SSD 50GB

Windows server 2012

i want to run a server with 30 or 40 player. but i have problem. FPS is too low.start parm:

start DayZServer_x64.exe -profiles=Chernarus -config=ServerDz.cfg -port=2302 -filePatching -dologs -adminlog -netlog -freezecheck -cpuCount=8

after 20 player my server fps will drop to 15 - 5 - 10. look like my cpu only using 1 core. minimum cpu usage is 16% and max is 35%

i used multithreadedReplication = 1; parametr and configed it :

    <jobsystem globalqueue="8192" threadqueue="2048">

    <pc maxcores="8" reservedcores="2" />

    </jobsystem>

no luck! its getting worse. can someone help me how to boost my fps. or where is my problem ? i searched google before but didnt find anything useful. sory for my bad english ;;)

@Cortex 0947

Try starting it with an affinity mask, like this:

start "" /affinity 0xFE "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZServer\DayZServer_x64.exe"

Starting it that way will have the server running on 7 cores (all except Core 0).  I do it this way because most of the Windows-related processes running in the background will heavily use Core 0 in a lot of cases, so not using that core for your server can actually increase performance (i.e. should reduce CPU lag related to Windows doing something).

Well, I wouldn't call that 100% based on that picture.  It certainly is the core being used the most, but if it was 100% CPU usage, that graph line would be straight across the top.  Use Resource Monitor to see what is going on with that CPU.

The question is what about the game performance?  Is any better running it like this?

tnx for your answers, i didn't see any difference maybe a little.

think its your server whith that specs. How did you solve this problem? How did you configure it?

I actually don't have a server anymore.  I also had a VPS, but DayZ really requires a dedicated machine and I just wasn't getting enough players playing on my server to justify the cost so I got rid of it.  I did not have this globalqueue parameter you have, so maybe try it without that.  I also minimized the logging by removing the -dologs and -netlog parameters.  For -profiles, I actually created a directory for that, so mine looked like this: -profiles=C:\DayZServer\

I was running a Namalsk server on a VPS with only a couple of mods and even then, my server's performance got poor once 30+ people were on (although that only happened once the whole time I had the server -- most times, I had 10 or fewer people on).

If you want a server with 40+ people, you need a dedicated box for decent performance and not a VPS.
