I know about headshots with supersonic bullets, but...

I was running into a forest "for a walk". A random one, quite far from popular places. Before entering it I looked around to see whether I'm followed by anyone (I do that very often in general). My route in the forest was approximately straigt. I was sprinting from time to time. Looking in front of me and asides, but didn't look back. I didn't stop since I entered the forest and was running for a minute or two. I'm 90% sure that there was nobody around me and 100% sure that there was no one in front. And then, suddenly, I'm dead, wihout hearing a sound...

If this is a bullet, then what kind of bullets will penetrate through the assault helmet and kill immediately?

Also, could it be some kind of a bug?
