Set launch option -winxp to game in six updater?

I was having a problem with running Arma2, operation flashpoint and dayz mod since installing Win8 evaluation. The game opens but appears to fail to render the game properly (I can't ad screen shots - sorry) Through about 6 hours of research I managed to figure out that by adding the command line "-winxp" in the "set launch" option in Steam I was able to fix this problem with running Arma2 and opflash through steam but I cannot figure out how to do it through the six updater and so DayZ mod still has the same problem.

I bought both games through steam. I am using six launcher. I have a AMD phenom 2x6, 8gb ram and Radeon HD 6950. and running Win8 evaluation build. The game was running fine on win7.

I've never written a post in a forum before so I am sorry if there is some etiquette or protocol that I have overlooked.

I worked it out on my own for anybody that could use this information.

in 6 launcher click on "options" under the twitter symbol. then in the field "additional startup parameters" type "-winxp"
