Empty server...

Recommended Posts

I just started playing DayZ a few weeks ago. Died a few times ofcourse, but with latest spawn I now survived for quite a bit.

I went to Novod, Kamansk MB and Servograd. Covered the north and went to Tisy MB. Got to Novaya, the ski resort and biathlon resort further west and all the way south. Now im at Pavlovo MB
This takes some hours in the game, I got attacked by wolves twice and almost died when Z´s and wolves teamed up.
However I met another player once after one hour of play and in one of the larger citys I found a dead guy. Thats it. No gun shots around, a few bases here and there but no pvp except that one time...
I mean it gets kinda boring not meeting anyone...

Is that normal or should I change server? Do I lose Vaiga, golden eagle and Blaze if I switch?

Cheers

If you switch to another official server you keep your character but will spawn in a different location.

That's the nature of dayz. It's a big map. You might go a long time without meeting another player but that makes the encounters all the more intense. Check the server population, but even a full server might appear quiet depending upon where you are. You're more likely to meet players in certain areas such as the coast or certain towns. There are heat maps showing the most visited places if you Google it.

You can favourite the server on the server list which highlights the star on the left. Also, when you're logged on to the server, if you go onto the menu and show the player list, the server name is at the top.

Thx man! Really helpful. It's a hard game with a lot of details...

Dont know if I should start a new thread, but I got jumped by 2 guys and killed, almost like they were waiting for me, eventhough I just logged in.
It was on Storoz Prison Island. I hope they noticed someone had to be close, but I was logged out for a few hours and I came back on, and just exiting a shed PAW!
There is not reason to suspect any cheating is there?

It also got me thinking. If it happens again is it possible to find a place or jump in the water and Exit game and log in a few hours later (and the baddies hopefully gone)

Cheers!

I suspect you were just unlucky and also in a relatively popular area. I was once logging out in a house in the middle of nowhere in the west and a guy logged in right next to me. Before I had a chance to do anything he shot me. There was also another occasion when I was checking the hunting stand near the military camp at Staroye and a guy logged in right on front of me. I took no chances and shot him. He was probably server hopping mil bases back when you could.

Generally I tend to log out in a bush or tree rather than in a building, though I may log out in a building if I have a lockpick to lock the door with.

Arg thats harsh man. There should be a 30 sec. invulnerable timeout upon logging in...
Thats a good tip. I will do that from now on!

What about my question about logging out if you can see you will be in big trouble in 30 sec or something? Do you have any idea?

The countdown timer is fifteen seconds, no way around that as far as I know. Of course, you can play however you choose, but combat logging is generally regarded as not being cricket!
