dehydrated foods

The weight/bulk of dehydrated foods should be lowered.   I have a friend who is dehydrating zucchinis for food.  The dehydrated zuc's have a higher life expectancy, are worth little in terms of nutrition, and have a weight/bulk of 3 which is the same as the non-dehydrated variety.

Does not seem realistic does it?  A food item with most of the moisture removed would weigh less and be smaller.

Beef dehydrates between 2 and 3-1.  5 pounds will be about 1.5 pounds when dried.
