GeordieMarv 293 Posted July 29, 2020 Is the base building system still bugged? I built a watchtower, put in the posts, it let me build 2 of the walls, but wouldn't let me build one of the lower frames on the third wall even though it would let me build the upper frame?? I tried to find the "sweet spot" to bring up the build option for about 15 minutes, but no luck. So I took the entire watchtower down with a crowbar and wasted resources as you don't get them all back. I moved the watchtower about 2 foot to the left, the ground here was just as flat as it was in the first position! So I built it again, and now it lets me build all the walls and roof, but it just refuses to let me build the stairs! WTF is wrong with this build system! If it's still bugged??? At least let us get all the resources back from taking it down until it works properly 100% of the time. It's just annoying AF to have to keep taking things down never mind then losing resources. You can see in the attached video that it just refuses to give me the build stairs option, even though 20 planks and 99 nails (more than enough) are in the "base 1F" slot of the watchtower. I look all over the watchtower, at floor and even walls/roof etc even though I know it's meant to be the floor you look at. I even take the roof off and try to get the requester to build the stairs, but it just flat out refuses to give me it. What on earth is going on? Has anyone else encountered this, and if so is there any workaround/fix. I am so sick of having to place and dismantle things, only to lose resources and then have to spend time getting more nails or what have you, only for it to not works again and again.
Parazight 1599 Posted July 29, 2020 Maybe you cant build stairs there because you have barrels in the way. Or maybe it's because you didn't build it on level ground. Or maybe because you've built a wall there. Or maybe you're not experienced with collision in dayz. 3 hours ago, GeordieMarv said: the ground here was just as flat as it was in the first position! GeordieMarv 293 Posted July 30, 2020 (edited) Actually if anything it was flatter in the second position, but just slightly. I moved the barrels and the crates out of the way on the first few attempts before I made the video, I even dismantled the stone oven too. It made absolutely no difference. As for not knowing about collision, what are you on about? What you don't know is that the very first time I built this in the position it was in, it all built fine. I got raided and the lower walls got destroyed which is why I was trying to rebuild the lower walls. So why would it let me build it in that spot the first time and then not let me rebuild the same walls in exactly the same place after the lower walls were destroyed by a raid? It let me build it just fine originally in that position, so how on earth can it be a collision related problem to do with the terrain?? It wouldn't have let me build it in the first place if this was the case. At first I honestly thought it wouldn't let me rebuild the lower frame as the foundation posts had got damaged, but it wasn't giving me any option to repair, which is why I decided to take it down in case it was some bug with the post being damaged and stopping it from being repaired to be able to be rebuilt. Maybe it's you that doesn't know what you're talking about, have you ever stopped to think that you don't know everything there is to know about DayZ. Not sure why you feel you have to be so patronizing and rude to people. Edited July 30, 2020 by GeordieMarv
Parazight 1599 Posted July 30, 2020 So, your base, which consisted of a fence and a watchtower got destroyed by raiders. You dismantled the rest and moved everything out and then tried to rebuild again. One statement says that you rebuilt in the same spot. Another says two feet away. Either way, it didn't work out. Maybe this is a sign that you should move your base. Good luck.
GregD23 2 Posted July 30, 2020 Hi Sorry for your woes. I have never had this problem but others where I was unable to build a floor above. Other problems where my own making for example logs near the build area - once had a a stick from a bush in the grass stopping me put down the watch tower kit. Check the basics I suppose and see if you've missed something. What I would like in the game is the introduction of splashing thing in fuel and burning it all down! Sorry it gets me that way sometimes. Happy building.
