Sgt 45 bravo 246br 1 Posted July 19, 2020 I sometimes get cholera drinking out of blue wells, it takes away from the game, you shouldn’t have to use chlorine at a blue well, there isn’t enough chlorine available as loot to do this. Sickness on this game needs to be turned way down it’s stupid when you run in a group, there is never enough tetra and disinfectant to keep everyone well. You can’t be stealthy sneezing and coughing constantly and it’s not realistic at all.
Homeschooliazon 87 Posted July 19, 2020 As far as I know wells don't give you cholera. You can also avoid getting your group sick by carrying cooked meat/vegetables/worms in your clothing so that your temperature indicator never goes blue, blue temperature gives you a cold. When someone in your group is sick just give everyone tetracycline at the same time and keep them on the meds until everyone is cured. You can also use vitamins for this which you can find anywhere, they often have over 30 pills per bottle.

The sickness factor in DayZ is one of the better additions in recent times AFAIC. The only thing I'm not gone on is the instant loony you get from eating human meat. That should only kick in if you constantly do it. 1

To me it's very different than getting "sick" from bacteria or the cold weather. Just my opinion. P.S. @Sgt 45 bravo 246br : There is waayyyy more chlorine than you will ever need in the game. @Tonyeh is right, make sure your hands are clean. I have never gotten sick from water out of the well. Either that, or your contagious friend is giving you the illness at a time that seems synonymous with drinking at the well. Running around laughing like someone who just got out of Bedlam means that that particular character is useless for my play style, which can involve a lot of stealth. I think the brain disease is a good idea. But it really should kick in over time and after prolonged consumption of human flesh. I had to eat human remains once. I found it in a police station and I was starving. Not wanting to die, I cooked it up and scoffed it. An hour later I was giggling like Jeffery Dahmer. So I ate a 12 gauge. It was fun to begin with, but after a while I got sick of it. As said, Brian prion disease is a good idea. But the mechanics need to be looked at.
Parazight 1599 Posted July 21, 2020 Kuru, in this game, is on a whole other level of ridiculous, compared to cholera. Check out this recent thread perhaps. https://forums.dayz.com/topic/248438-madness-disease-change/?tab=comments#comment-2459763 As I've said before, Quote getting Kuru from abnormally folded prions can happen. But it is unrealistic that a person would go insane like they do in-game. This mechanic, in real life, was isolated to the generations of indigenous people of New Guinea, and had a minimum incubation period of at least a decade. Getting the laughs from killing and eating other players is 100% bullshit, unrealistic and unauthentic. Go ahead, do some research. You'll find the fabricated mechanic has no basis in reality. Is it bad to have it as a game mechanic? Perhaps not. Maybe the affliction could be applied because of some other reason. Maybe if you shoot too many people. I don't know, but it's definitely not authentic.
