"Your latency is too high". No it is not, I have a 24 ping to the server.

Recommended Posts

Here is what I won't do:

  • Restart router
  • Restart PC
  • Update anything
  • Reinstall anything

And yes I checked verify game files.

This bug, and it is a bug, happens on all official hive servers for me, and only after 20 minutes of trying sometimes it let's me through. My connection has a ping to the server I play on listed as 24 ping in the server browser. It does not happen on private hives. And switching between private hives and official hives does not fix it. And my internet connection test says I have a very fast connection to the provider, (15 ping).

So what is causing this bug, it would be great if BI could fix it. This is a bug specific to this game, no other game, of which some have ping limits kicks me off for high ping. My connection is ok, something in the ping checking on BI side is faulty. Because the error messages report a ping of 400-700, which is not the real ping.

Could you please PM me with your SteamID, country you are connecting from and the server you want to connect to (one example server would be enough)?

A single spike in your ping at the wrong time will cause you to be kicked if a server has high ping enabled. It should be set up to detect average ping across a time period.

I have been having the same problem the past few days trying to play the game but this has never happened before and I have been playing on the same official servers hosted by Multiplay.com

I played different games in the far past that had this issue too, even though those servers wouldn't handle it that aggressively. I guess it's something like a spike in latency that builds up when your game is under load (i.e. loading the part of the map in), during which time your client can't answer the server. I usually had 400-500 ms pings initially on some of those games, but a stable 70 ms ping for the rest of the playtime.

A lot of people start reporting this issue since 1.10 again now. I also am being kicked constantly, 1-5 times per hour, "latency too high" (300-700ms according to message), yet my ping is 20 to the server. Already had my provider doublecheck everything - all good on my end.

At least you are being "kicked" so the character despawns immediatly - and reconnection just takes a few seconds after the timer. But it sure gets annoying, especially when you are right in the middle of opening your gates etc and you get kicked 2 times in the process.

Sharing the same issue with desert cat on two PC-s. Can not connect to any server period. No lag spikes or anything, at the time of connecting having ping running at the server IP- always less than 50. Ingame connection error says: Latency too high: 430ms. Has anyone had any solutions for this?

Furthermore, I can join any community server without any issues. Attempting to join any official server at any time causes the issue best described by OP.

The Steam forum has several similar reports. Sometimes it's whole squads that get kicked at the same time. That most likely spells server side rather than client side. I've had it happen to me but it was a community server. And a wolf pack was attacking. Don't want to find out what happens if I'm driving......
