The State of DayZ PVP

Recommended Posts

The state of the DAYZ strictly  directs each survivor to attack other survivors in 1 circumstance: When the 'other' is completely defenseless

If you can't shoot another survivor in the back of the head, just run or hide. There is zero incentive to do anything else.

Sadly this summarizes the complete multiplayer dynamic of the DayZ.

IF you disagree, please answer this in your response:

If a survivor is geared and prepared for battle and he notices another survivor approaching the same point of interest as him:

List 1 circumstance that would encourage the advantaged survivor to do ANYTHING EXCEPT: Hide/run or use advantage to engage when back is turned.

WHAT WOULD EVER ENCOURAGE ANY PLAYER TO ACCEPT RISK IN COMBAT WHEN THEY CAN JUST HIDE AND BLINDSIDE PEOPLE AT ZERO COST  AND INCREDIBLE GAIN.

Its engineering  disgusting behavior relative to the potential.  (Its working great too)

There is ZERO content to encourage dynamic and interesting conflicts. and ZERO content to discourage toxic/ cowardly/ predatory behavior from players that are in need of zero resources.

I can think of zero good reasons for this to be the case.

It's not the content that encourages this type of behavior. It's not the structure of the loot economy that promotes this behavior. You are experiencing the darkest side of human nature in a situation where rules have been lifted, and any semblance of law is completely removed. Now, introduce a sense of value to the items found therein, and it accelerates this behavior.

Today, I was near a great vantage point, heard a rooster far off, and quickly located a survivor running the roads in a nearby town. I kept my distance to over 200m, and watched through my scope from the hillside. The survivor had a Mosin, a splitting axe, bike helmet, mountain backpack, really, a very average setup. I had food, I had water, there was no need to trade, so, I watched. They ran through town, stayed quiet, and killed zombies with their axe; Clearly, not looking to garner any attention. I let them run off and away into the next town. While I watched through my scope, I let he or she fight their own fights with the infected, not giving away my position. I was ready to give this survivor some sniper support for whatever situation they got in, or kill them if they decided to engage in some unsavory behavior or backstabbing.

If you don't want to be KoS, the only rule is: pay attention and stay alert. If you don't get spotted first, your chances of survival dramatically increase. Be aware of the angles, the vantage points, the roof tops, all the ways you are exposed to danger. Use cover properly. Look around you and behind you often. Cover your trail by leaving things the way you find them. That means closing doors you open, picking up after yourself, burying infected corpses, disposing of items in lakes or other hard to spot  areas, and learning spawn points in houses, all of which will make you harder to track.

you describe my playstyle exactly . .. .  but I would say, "if you dont want to be KOS or KOS  . .. ."
