Brother Hao 28 Posted February 4, 2020 Imagine this: - You wake up on a beach wearing a hoodie, some shoes and pants - You're hungry, thirsty, confused and possibly hypothermic - You go to ask one of the locals what the hell is going on, the city is in ruins - The local is infected, attacks you and starts chasing after you - You find a Mosin with 1 bullet inside - After quarter of a second of aiming it, you shoot the infected 60 meters away, nailing him in the head, killing him instantly Doesn't seem realistic, right? Terrified, starving and trembling survivors aren't exactly known for their cognitive abilities or their ability to handle shooting guns with ease. This would be slightly more forgivable if the survivors were some military dudes with multiple years of active service. But I think we are supposed to be just random individuals that managed to survive the plague thanks to pure luck. Most people probably haven't shot a firearm before, and if you give an inexperienced person a firearm, most won't become sharpshooters after holding a gun (as shown in many, many videos on youtube). Basically what I'm trying to say is that a freshspawn in DayZ should handle a gun (certainly more powerful ones) like a person from one of these first time firing a gun videos. Also you shouldn't be able to swing around a FAL like a bag of dogshit, I imagine it'd take a lot more effort than that.
Thisisthepolice0 1 Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) So you want the devs to watch inexperienced people shooting guns on YouTube and somehow design the gameplay based on that? The first time I shot a rifle, when I was 14, I hit a Coke can at 50 yards with iron sights on my first shot. So, would you require people to continuously shoot their guns in the game to up their skill? Even the worst shot in the world could figure a bolt action rifle out quick enough to hip shoot something 5 feet away. Uncle Zed 272 Posted February 5, 2020 They're also mechanics and they know how to hunt animals and cut them up properly. You can only take realism in a video game so far.
p4nnus 42 Posted February 6, 2020 Yeah so the fact is, the things the player can do proves that we are not just some random individuals, we are people with a pretty good survival skill set. Probably military background. I dont know why you think were just random individuals when everything points in the exact other direction.
