I stole from an admin...bad me!

So...the other day I was playing with a buddy around the airstrip on the coast. I came accross a character in camo with a silenced pistol. He was just standing there out in the open with zombies all around but not attacking him. I thought maybe he was just a random spawn or something but decided to check it out. This is when I discovered that you can open another persons backpack and take items from it. Yeah...I opened his pack when I saw the option and took a 50 cal sniper rifle and all the ammo...that was a mistake.

That gun is suicide. It draws every zombie for miles! Anyway...

It wasn't until a day later that I found out that he was an admin. I was telling the story to another guy I was on TS with and he let me know it was an admin. So...is there punishment for stealing from admins or is it fair game if they leave themselves out like that?

Just curious. That gun ultimately got me killed anyway.

I'd say you're pretty safe, I imagine the Day Z team would have something to say about it if an admin tried to ban you or punish you in any other way when he was the one who left himself out in the open. All fair game.

No, if an admin did anything but use legitimate means to get revenge like any other players (ie. ban/kick), then that would be admin abuse and they can lose their server hosting privileges. You did nothing wrong.

If he was just standing there with his pistol out, not moving, with zombies around him that weren't attacking him, I'd wager it was just another case of a glitches corpse. It happens sometimes.
