Loot cycle.

Does the loot cycle if  a player has gear but has not been on the server after a certain period of time? For private and community servers.

Not sure what you mean by cycle.  IME, if you see loot that you don't pick up and then come back to that same place, chances are other items will now be there. 

If you mean the maximum number of particular items that spawn on a server, I believe that is a set number on the server and will only reset if wiped. ......from what I understand. 

I actually wiped my own server recently but forgot to set the whitelist tick box.  I came in to find several strangers on.  At first I thought all was well but then found that they had taken cars we found and other stored goods we had in just a matter of a couple days.  Pretty productive considering none of the vehicles were drivable yet.  I started wondering how much they may have already stored of their own so I wiped the server again and locked it so we can start over again for fear they buried good loot that would make it more scarce on our server

I guess what I am saying is if my character has a m4 and lar and I logged off but never came back to that server does it despawn over time? Cause I have a private server also but many people have gone that might have top tier weapons . I'm wondering if the server adds those back in time or it just considered still in game . If that makes sense.

Not really sure.  If it did, then my understanding is that those items would be put back in the pool (so to speak).  

I haven't heard of a limit on how long your character will last before despawning due to inactivity.  .....especially on private servers.  My guess is that unless you reinstall your server (wipe it), any items other players may have collected will still be with them, in tents/containers, etc. but I don't know for sure.

your character never despawns unless the server wipes, if you log out with an m4 it is no longer included I the loot economy so a new one will spawn assuming there's not more than the max limit already stashed.

Loot you have on you does not disappear unless there is some bug.
