No 3rd Person -__-

I don't know what the deal is. I cant figure out how to use 3rd person. I've tried enter on the num pad and it doesnt work.

Switch server. Some servers do not allow 3rd person due to the advantage this gives to looking around corners etc.

Possibly a server with Third Person option OFF.

Definitly a good thing. Unless you just wanted to look at your character :D

Go to your options and look for the 'Toggle View' setting. If you can't get it to work, try setting the controls back to default.

EDIT: Like most have said, make sure it's not just the server. The name of the server usually has tags such as [3DP: OFF].

Count this as a question from me, too.

I've got the same problem, and I'm an experienced ArmA player who has the key-bindings bound to his heart. (Sounds gay, donnut?) I have no idea why I can't go into third person, and when I test the survivor character models in the editor, they are invisible as well.

I think I'm missing a file or something. I have all of the things I downloaded from the website in my @dayz mod folder, and I constantly see other people with a @hive folder with their @dayz folder.

Note: IT'S NOT THE SERVERS. I tried it in ArmA editor. Doesn't work at all. It's an error with the files, I think.

Server name should tell you if 3rd is enabled, or disabled (well..most do | 3D: ).

Well, for starters, I have all dayz PBO files in the @dayz folder:

For some reason, I consistently get the "Bad version: server access denied" error as well, and many other servers list "@hive" as one of the expansions.

In editor, the survivor model has no shadow, I can go into third person, but I can not see my character, and in editor I can not see any 'survivor' characters on the screen, either. That's about as good of a look at the problem that I can give you with my knowhow, since I am not acquainted with fraps.

Try changing the key for ToggleView to something else and try that new one.

Although it doesn't solve the problem at long-term, it might at least let you use it.

dont use 3rd person in first place.

if you are a honest player, aiming for competitive play,

it really is not what you want, trust me.

but if you want to cheat, go all for it.

That's kind of harsh. I'm an "Idiot" by this games standards - I've no experience playing and just started today. I've been saving to buy the games required for weeks now, so the Yogscast has nothing to do with this. I bet you didn't start the game knowing all you do now.. Show some respect

That makes little to no sense.

The crosshairs in third person are bugged anyway and aren't in the proper place.

Third person is cheating as it allows you to look around corners without being seen by players or zombies. You do not have the option to magically adjust your view in real life, neither should you in a zombie survival simulation game. You do however have the option to look around corners using Q and E whilst retaining the realism and ability to aggro zombies.

If you play in third person because of head bob, you can turn that off you know.

I had the same problem. I just changed my key to the numlock button :)
