unexplainable deaths

Found a rather ambitious base under construction and went in, went up the stairs of a watch tower, and started taking damage whitout any aparant reason. The health bar droped really fast, became unconscious and died in maybe 30 seconds, there were groaning sound effects repeating. It really anoyed me (especially losing all my stuff) so i spent like 20 minutes running back, to see if i could retrieve my gear. When i got there, the rifle i had in my hand was lying in the tower but the rest was gone, including the body. I picked up the gun and went down to the ground, the i started taking damage again. Same prosedure as last time. Died again. Anyone recognizing this? What the hell happened?

Sounds like you stepped in some barbwire, twice. That stuff is known for killing anything that comes too close.

Got the same answer on steam, so i´m gonna asume that´s what happened. Weird tho, that the second time around it didnt occur until i was down on the ground. And were did the body go? I thought corpses would remain longer in 1.05.

It depends on the server -- the one you were on, the admins might have dialed down the value for how fast dead players vanish.
