Need to switch servers

So i've had a character that i've played on a server since 1.03. With the 1.05 update, the characters got wiped but my base remained. So i stay on the server. But the population on the server has dwindled so much that I"ve seen at most 4 other players on the server. I've been wanting to take a few things and start a new on a HIgh pop server with a lower ping. But for whatever reason, i have so many other characters from when i was learning the game that i can't seem to switch this character over. I've tried looking for ways to delete these extra characters, but i can't find a way. I've been going to any low ping server i can, and killing that old character and exiting without respawning, then trying to use that old character for that one. But it just respawns the character i killed. Is there no way for me to switch my character over?

What server is your character on that you wish to move?  Perhaps I should be asking what HIVE is it on?  1pp characters can never go to any 3pp servers, and likewise, private server characters cannot go to any other server.

Please double check to make sure these aren't the conditions messing you up.  It should tell you in the server browser if your server is 1pp or 3pp.  And I should hope that you can tell the difference between official and community servers, and remember that characters are not shared between the two.

I know when I first started playing, it took me weeks to even realize how to switch to 3pp by pressing enter.  Now I believe the key is "V" by default in most cases.
Log into the server with your character that you want to move, and hit "V" to confirm if the camera switches or not, if you can't figure it out from the server browser.

Not too much. I have checked. It was a third person server and I'm trying to switch to another third person server. But it has three other characters on my list as well. But it never goes to the one i want to use. So i just kill that character and exit. 

The server i was on is 108.61.238.124:2302. But when i go to search for that server by searching IP, it never comes up. But if i just select "play" with the gmsubzero character; it goes right into the server no problem. 

What I've been doing so far is selecting the character i want to use; Gmsubzero; and go to switch server. Reset filters, and sort by ping. I favorite the server i am about to go in, and select play. If it is one of the other 4 characters that seem to be on my account, i kill the character and exit without respawn. I've done this about 15 or so times already. But they never let me switch over Gmsubzero. 

Sooo, while writing all this up, it looks like this GMsubzero character was on a server that got switched to community. NO wonder the population has been low.
