How is DayZ doing?

Hey guys, i want to create a dayz server again. Had a server with 15+ players. But i’m wondering how is DayZ doing. What are the issues you guys are having? Is it worth playing right now or should i wait a little longer?

It works pretty well atm with many mods to choose from. Crashes are still a thing sometimes, but nothing compared to earlier days. Still, i would wait till the next patch in the hopes of fixing an old but returned method to do the D-thing if you tinker with certain options as an admin.

The developers post status reports and they can be found on these forums.  The best answer you can get is to read it for yourself or (gasp) load the game and play it.  It's a pretty broad question you ask.  Are you looking for a completely comprehensive opinion?  Seems like way more work for someone else to do when you could just read for five minutes and come up with your own opinion.   Opinions of others will vary greatly anyway.  How would you know which opinion is the most accurate representation?

I hadn't played much since the "1.0" bs left a real bad tatse in my mouth.  But, I recently jumped back in and am certainly having fun.  As other have mentioned, many good mods out there - but I'm a vanilla guy at heart.  The biggest problems on vanilla for me are related to base building and the inability to fortify a base in any meaningful way (so if you just want to hide a camo'd tent and barrel in the woods, that shouldn't be an issue).  Cars are still junk in many ways.  Stamina and weight are still a bit too punitive.  The survival aspects need to be dialed up a notch, but over all, it is showing me promise for the first time in a long time.

i'll just play the game for a little bit and if i like it again i may just end up setting up my server as i still have all the 1.02 mission files which i could edit.
