Broken character menu.

I'll just simply name certain things in a very simplistic way for the sake of explanation.

Character1 is able to be edited by name, and appearance.

Character2 is able to be edited by name, but not by appearance. - When i try to randomize that characters appearance. It will bring me to character1 for some reason. Meaning that character is broken.

Character3 is not albe to be edited by name, or appearance. - When i try to edit name, It will crash my game entirely to my desktop. When i tried to fix character3 by joining a server. It created character2. (I could guess that character3 has been a old character that i used on a private server, But since that one doesn't exist anymore. It got broken?)

 

Whats even going on? i am confused. My character menu broken. With no way on fixing this by removing any files or other.

I tried to play character3 again. Which created a character4. That i either can't edit its appearance. But i can edit its name.

Sheehs, this is heavily bugged. Its insane. Am i stuck with these empty shells?

I sent an email to the support branch and got a rather lazy answer. No fix or anything on the likes. Seems like I'm stuck with these broken features on a game I paid money for. Told me to just ignore my broken **s characters.

Minor update: Support is checking their database through my steam profile. Hopefully itll be solved!

Another minor update: All characters broken. I have no clue anymore whats happening. I really hope there's a way to get them all removed so i can start off clean with fresh new characters i can pick to play on servers. Because this is getting silly. Support hasn't done anything so far since my last update.

Any people having this issue. I'd like to announce that support wouldnt be able to help you to its fullest extent. I havent heard back from them. Neither is the issue fixed. I can officially say that I'm stuck with a bugged version of the game tied to my account.

I'm having the same issue. Each time I close Dayz and then log back in now, I lose all progress. I have only had the game 3 days and I'm already fed up with it. If anyone knows a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

Neither of you have mentioned this here, so I'll ask -- have you tried deleting both your /My Documents/DayZ folder and your /AppData/Roaming/DayZ folder?

Some information related to the characters is stored in there.  Doing this will of course delete all your current characters, but may help solve the problem.  Your keybinds and other settings will get wiped as well, so you'll have to set those up again.

I'll give it a go in a mo if I have lost my saved info again. I think I have an idea of what the issue is. Is the character info linked to a specific server, albeit, the information saved locally? if so, I wonder if the issue is realised to that when I open the game, as it is unable to find the server straight away, it resets to default 'survivor'? 

The Official server were down today for maintenance ( I only found out after someone copied a screen shot of Twitter into a thread on here, I don't use Twitter) and I wonder if because the servers were down, my character was unable to load due to no linked server being available? Could this be the reason why I lost the last character?

I don't believe so.  Try deleting those folders and see if that helps at all.

So I have not had the issue since uninstalling the game and re-installing. Im guessing a bad install, or, I think my what also could ahve been an issue was my /My Documents/DayZ folder was sync'ed with my home server. I at the time of reinstalling the game, disconnected that folder form the sync, and I have not had any issues since. Th eonly game issues I have not are not being able to reload guns in game, which I fix by logging out and logging back in again.
