Burlap sack

I find a single burlap sack and proceeded to cut it into strips with my machete.The strip was on the floor after the action was done  I then picked it up placing it into my inventory.I viewed my inventory and the strip was no where to be found.Is this a common occurrence on ps4 and is there anyway for me to avaoid this in the future?

Check your items maybe you have a protective case or somfing like this, your burlap sack can be inside.  Try to take all item on hands 😌
