kuhne 0 Posted July 5, 2012 I'm new here, just made my account, up until a few days ago I found out about this Mod, didn't even know it existed (between married life, diablo 3 and xenoblade chronicles, i haven't even noticed other games coming out) but I found out about this mod and I am so totally hooked into the walking dead (and zombies in general) that I just had to get it. I've never even touched an Arma game in my life but I just purchased combined operations in steam a few minutes ago for the sole purpose of playing this mod.So I am just saying hello and I hope we see each other in the field :)Quick question, do I need to be experienced at arma to be able to play this properly? I am experienced with shooters (cod, all the battlefield games and all the way back to quake and doom) but Arma is just not one of the games I ever got into. Thanks! rattus (DayZ) 5 Posted July 5, 2012 Nah you're good to go , but DO check out the armory (ingame training where you can test all weapons and vehicles). This way if you find something good , you'll already know how to use it properly.
cruelntention 8 Posted July 5, 2012 avoid other players unless you know them, some are good, some aren't and will shot you just to steal your stuff or make you rage.
kuhne 0 Posted July 5, 2012 Thanks for the tips.As for the players. I don't know anyone who plays this, in fact, the few friends of mine that play games are into consoles, nobody does pc gaming so the chance of me actually knowing someone who plays this are slim. How do I find trusted players I can hang out with? Is there a type of global chat in the server or how does it work?
cragzeek 29 Posted July 5, 2012 Trusted players? Good luck. You'll find rather quickly that its nearly impossible to tell until a trigger is pulled if someone is friend or foe.I think best thing for you is to try to learn the engine and the ins and outs of getting geared before you even worry about finding a group. There appears to be places on this site that you can request a group. How, if at all, you can tell if THEY aren't just bandits in disguise...is rather beyond me.
Elias (DayZ) 57 Posted July 5, 2012 Welcome to the mod, hope you'll enjoy it!Play the Arma2 bootcamp missions first, that way you can set up your controls and get a 'feel' for the game. It's not a fps-shooter, allthough there is some shooting going on, of course. You cannot stand in the middle of the road blasting away with your AK, there are more skills involved. COD/BF3 experience is *not* going to help in this mod.Don't forget to install the latest Arma2 betapatch before you start playing.Good luck and see you in the field :-)
