Cars just randomly despawn...

It happened to us twice now. We drove with a car, game lag and crash into a building or lamppost. So our car was broken. We took all the necessary parts with us and search for new parts and after 5-10 minutes we returned to our Broken car to repair it but the car was completely gone, and so our stuff we had in the car.

Why does this happen? Is this a server mechanic to clear the server of broken cars? 
It's very frustrating if you search for the parts and the car just despawns.

Pls fix car persistence or tell us how the despawn system works...

Yes you are right. Just carry a 2-3 waterproof bag and shovel.
Crashed the car, buried all that you can not take.  Comeback and take loot

There is no "fixing" a car once you wreck it to the point of it not driving.  Once broken, it will despawn, and everything that is still in/on it as well.  That's always the way it's been.
