More on day/night and messaging.

Recommended Posts

I know you can edit the day night cycles in xml and you can add a messages.xml. But is there any way to trigger a message similar to the old character status but for server time. For instance:

Dusk/dawn is approaching.

It will be dark/light soon.

It is "midnight"/"noon"

I feel that if players have a general idea of what time the server is at or will be at getting through the night would be better for some. I'd love to combine this with a over all.message of the length of day/night cycles. Does anyone else think that would be helpful? Ideally we'd have a variable for server time we could put into messages like we do for server name and port. It wouldn't be very immersive but would be helpful.

Oh, I didn't know it was broken. I haven't done much other than read what info I can find. So I was mostly thinking about the messaging I'd want. I know for me a big reason I don't stick out the night on most servers is I don't know how long it will be when logging in.

You don't need this. Sun/Moon can help you with time. I suggest you to watch this video.
