emmamillathompson 0 Posted January 2, 2019 So I recently got a few games for the holiday season and even before this i've had problems. Most of the time it doesn't read the discs but that's because it's getting old and the discs don't go far enough into the drive, I know how to deal with that. But when it does read it, it starts making a really loud noise that quickly get louder and louder to the point that you can hear it in the next room with the doors closed. Usually at some point the discs will work with it making minimal noise and still reading it, but after putting in one game and it working on Christmas none of them have worked since then and it's been almost a week. TheYetiBum 790 Posted January 2, 2019 Sound like your disc drive has died, unless your console is still under warranty then your kinda screwed. The only way to keep on using your console would be to use digital downloads of games only or alternatively pay to have an xbox reconditioner fix it up, I've recently taken my console apart to clean inside and the disc drive is a self contained unit that could be switched out for a new one but without the specialist tools to remove outer casing as a new xbox disc drive at hand you wouldn't be able to fix it yourself.
