Black Screen whilst being chased - Player wipe

So Annoyed!!
Spent about 10hours looting had some good stuff stashed away. I turned it on an my M4 that was in my hands had disappeared (annoying but carried on).
Then I messed up an got chased by 6 or so zombies got hit once an my screen went black!! Everything still worked an i was still taking damage but screen was black just with the white dot in the centre! I clicked exit an was still alive, loaded up into a new server an my character was gone!! Completely new spawn in!!
Dose this keep happening to people because if so that really ruins the game an makes it pointless.
