Official server don't save bases constructed?

Last night I spent hours creating a base on a oficial server, and today when the server was restarted it completely disappeared...

wtf is this? a joke? to spend hours building? and a server restart we lost all ??

That's pretty much it. 

I'm still working through some of the particulars- but I think community based servers (ie: people who pay server providers... or run off their own hardware) can restore persistence files- at the risk of impacting other people who have built bases during the time between a wipe and the restoration. ie: Your base gets wiped but in the meantime someone else works on theirs. You get your base restored while the restoration wipes the new base. 

So it's not quite as easy a problem to solve as it sounds. 

Additionally, we've got a gameservers.com server and though other people have reported that their GSPs have allowed them to do more persistence saves, Gameservers isn't or won't do this for us... They just do 1 save per day as per the original hosting rules. 

It's very confusing but until persistence is resolved I'd recommend against putting too much time into establishing elaborate bases.
