Modify existing DayZ models?

Hello,

I don't know, if this is even technically possible with the modding tools we received in the last couple of days (i'm new to DayZ/Arma modding), but just in case:

Are we allowed to use or modify existing assets/models/textures/sounds which came with DayZ?

For example: If wanted to create an alternative version of the GAZ-24, could I just use the model of the car in the game and change it or would I have to create a completely new version from the ground up with a new model, new sounds, extra interior etc?

You can't take their models and edit them without permission. I'm guessing you could make your own objects to replace the proxy objects attached to the vehicle, for example, custom wheels, hood, doors, etc. You could also replace the car's textures.
