If you equip the bone hook to your Boonie Hat it just floats around your head and looks completely weird

Can you post a photo by chance? I'm not sure what a bone hook is if I'm honest, unless you mean like a hook for a fishing rod, which I'm not sure how you equipped it to a bonnie hat nor even knew it was in the game lol

Today was the first time I've seen an animal drop bone but the pelts have been around a while
