What is an IR Marker Strobe used for?

Hello there

The strobe will... um, strobe (ie "flash") for those wearing NVG which helps them Posivtively IDentify friendlies.

So, if you and your squad have strobes and NVGs you can quickly see who is on your side and who are enemy players/zeds.

(unless the opposition has them as well!)

Thanks for the answer, but do you know if it works just by wearing it, or do I have to attach it to something?

Thanks for the answer, but do you know if it works just by wearing it, or do I have to attach it to something?

You have to turn it on. It is not on all the time. I don't use them in the regular game much so can't remember if it's a key that turns it on like the flashlight or if it's a mouse scroll.

100% sure IR strobes aren't in the mod.

As mentioned, they are used for marking things for people wearing NVG's. An entire team carrying them together with NVG's would help mark frendlies while throwing one onto enemy positions would act much like a smoke to mark aerial strafing at night.

As far as I know, they are not legitimatly in DayZ.
