First Kill !!!! (sort of accidental)

So there I was wandering through the wastelands in search for gear and food. After a few hours I had managed to get some nice weapons (at least I think they are nice), namely an ak cobra and a trusty colt as a sidearm. Things were going smoothly but I was still lacking survivability as I had not found any matches.

So I decided to head for the nearest supermarket to get me some as I had nothing to light my cigarettes with.

After crawling for a bit I came to the back entrance and saw two Zombies inside. As none of my guns were came with a silencer I decided to go berserk on them and split some skulls with my hatchet. I dropped the ak and removed my hatched from the toolbelt. This is where I messed up. Of course removing it from the toolbelt is not the same as equipping it. Instead of silently hacking at them I was surprised to hear my colt go off :dodgy:

One of them went down quickly but the other one managed to bite me so I had to bandage myself.

The gunshots had attracted some more undead that I managed to take down.

After clearing them I was at about 8 k blood after eating all the canned goodies I managed to find in the supermarket. No matches there of course.

So I crawled back out only to trigger another Zombie...and he broke my leg. Of course I had no morphine on me. I hate crawling. I could have been worse though as I was in Stary Sobor (think that is the name) where I had spotted an army campsite earlier with 2 medical tents.

So I crawled there only to find the tents empty (well not completely, but no morphine).

Frustrated I logged out and went to get some running done.

A few hours later I wanted to log back in but could not find the server I had been on so I just picked one randomly.

When my char was done loading I noticed it was nighttime, the moon was out however. I saw a silhuette running towards the tent i was in and panicked.

My first instinct was shoot shoot shoot so I clicked. For some reason no shot went off. Shortly after there was a loud bang and I was unconcious, bleeding and still had a broken leg. Also someone was killed that instant according to chat, but wasnt me. That poor guy had died of my frag grenade :angel:

After regaining conciousness I quickly bandaged myself. I was below 1k blood now.

I crawled to the other players dead body and examined it. He had 2 morphine injectors on him :D and some canned food.

I managed to sneak to safety fainting very often. As this was another server I decided to take my chances with the supermarket again in hope of finding matches there.

What do you know, I found some. Happy with myself I lit up and smoked:rolleyes:

I also managed to find a cow and had myself 8 nice steaks.

Next I will make a run for devils castle to see whats going on there.

i have only today figured out how to use the chat. It had been bothering me for some time but instead of researching it I was busy playing DayZ :s

My first kill was also kind of accidental. I ran into someone north of Rogovo. It's pretty rural so i didnt expect to meet anyone. Turning a corner i ran straight at another player. In panic i fired my shotgun and killed him. It was a panic reaction, and a feeling i think i never have had in another game ever. Afterwards i felt sorry for him since there was no telling if he was friendly or not. On the other hand, had i not panicked and waited i might have taken a bullet myself... who knows...

Yup, I wasnt thinking much either, just adrenaline rush and off went the grenade. I didnt even know I had thrown it at first. Even after the bang I wasnt really sure what had happened. I figured it out though when I saw it was missing from my inventory and the fact that I had lost consciousness. Also the other guy was dead.
