Troubleshooting FAQ

Recommended Posts

For many issues out there there are simple solutions that you can try to resolve some of the reoccurring issues. Some are caused by faulty downloads, some by outdated drivers. Here is a small collection of solutions to some of the recurring issues in DayZ.

If your issue is not listed here or measures do not help, feel always free to report to our feedback tracker.

Common Solutions

  1. Before trying any other solutions, try to verify your game files via Steam. This is a general check of all DayZ game files that should discover most of the issues caused by a faulty update download, or by manipulated/otherwise corrupt game data.
    1. Go to your Steam Library and right-click on DayZ.
    2. Go to Properties.
    3. Open the Local Files Tab.
    4. Click on "Verify Integrity of Game Files"
    5. Check the boxes for "User Data" and "Log Files"

  2. Make sure to clear all launch parameters.
    1. Go to your Steam Library and right-click on DayZ.
    2. Go to Properties.
    3. In the General Tab, click on "Set Launch Options"
    4. Delete all entries and confirm.

  3. Reinstall the game. To avoid faulty data, the easiest solution is a clean installation of the game.

BattlEye Error

BattlEye, the anti-cheat software that we use in DayZ, reacts to certain abnormalities on your computer. You can find a clear definition of many of the BattlEye error messages in this FAQ article.

If BattlEye does not prevent you from starting the game, but keeps kicking you from servers, please report a server kick.

[Launch error] "Error Creating Enfusion Engine"

If you have these errors...

Error creating enfusion engine
Error creating enfusion engine, possible errors are:
*GPU not supported
*GPU drivers not actualized
*DirectX broken
*other kind of error

It is highly possible that your GPU does not support DirectX 11, which is a requirement since the implementation of DayZ version 0.60.

Here is a useful link to identify DirectX 11/12.

Bad Version, server rejected connection

If you are prevented from joining a server with this message, you have the wrong version of the game installed. Compare your version number (displayed in the main menu) with the version number of the individual server (displayed in the server browser).

You might need to:

  • restart Steam in order to get an update that was just released
  • switch to a different game branch (Stress Test, Experimental, Stable) - official servers display in their name, on which branch they are running.

My server has been wiped/my base is gone

Server crashes can currently cause a persistence wipe. So especially for server owners, try to work with regular persistence backups and if you encounter server crashes, report with your crash dumps to our Feedback Tracker. If you have any proven reproduction steps for persistence wipes, let us know. The team is working on a long-term solution, which unfortunately will take some time.
