General questions.

Recommended Posts

So, I'm thinking about downloading this game, but I had some questions, and I figured, "Where better than the games official board?

Anyway, basically, I'm just wondering a few things.

Are there melee weapons?

How many players do the servers average?

Is every building accessible?

Can you set up tents and campfires to spend nights?

That's pretty much all I wanna know, and I don't feel like lurking a bunch of links and stuff to find answers. I'm not 100% sure if this is the right section of the board, but I'd appreciate answers even if it's not.

Thanks in advance guys.

Yes there are melee weapons: Axe and Crowbar

Most of the servers cap at 50, good servers with low ping is full most of the time (daytime in-game, at night there are much less)

No not every building is accessible, in fact, compared to the total amount of buildings, there are very few accessible. But there's stores, apartments, tents, airports, deer stands, hospitals and much more which you can enter and find nice equipment.

Yes you can set up tents and campfires, with the right tools. To set up a tent, all you need is to find a tent somewhere and pick it up. To set up a campfire, you need wood (acquired by looting or using an axe on a tree) and matches to lit the fire. You can't enter the tents, they are only for "bag" space, in case you have a lot of stuff you can't carry around all the time.

Hiya and welcome, The DAYZWIKI ought to help out with most general issues but here goes:

Yes there are melee weapons but they are still being tweaked(Crowbar blunt weapon requires multiple hits, axe is one hit kill)

Depending on whether its daytime on the server you join, itll be around 30-40 players average nighttime between 0 and 20 but you get all shapes and sounds.

No, not every building is accessible, maybe 30-40%.

It is possible to set up tents, the server saves their location and provided no one finds them they should persist through server resets, campfires can be made by combining firewood with a matchbox, it is even possible to skin animals with the hunting knife, then gather firewood from the forest with the hatchet, make a campfire with the matches and then cook the raw meat.( This is THE survival technique for loners. )

Beat me to it

Couple more questions that I forgot about the first time, can you interact with items in the world? (i.e. sit down) Can you barricade rooms? And can you change your characters clothing and body armor, and actually change the appearance of your character model?

You can sit down on the ground, salute and other stuff. But not sit on a chair or sit on a bench. But there are "troll"wires which you can use to barricade doorways, but in my opinion it's just annoying.

There are 2 different clothing atm. A Ghillie suit and Military armor. None change the actual "armor" value in-game, so it doesn't protect you from zombies nor players. But it does change your appearance. The Ghillie suit is very green and looks like grass/leaves, it's perfect camo for a sniper, it blends incredibly well in with the environment.

I use the term "troll" because Wire doesn't work on zombies, they just moves right through it.

But players can use Wires to block doorways for other players. Atm people love putting wires in front of houses and supermarkets so you can't get inside to loot the equipment, unless you have a 'Toolbox', then you can just cut the wire.

So I call it "troll"wire because you troll other players by barricading loot.
