Question - Z's at night

Recommended Posts

quick question - does night time affect the Z's ability to see as compared to day time? I mean, i'm running around in the dark not able to see much - I'm assuming its the same for them right?

I don't think it affects their ability to see or hear, but your vision and audio icons do adjust depending on the enviromental factors. If it's raining, you will not generate as much sound or be as visible, and if it's dark your visibility icon will be alot lower than normal.

The ability of a Z to see or hear you is based on these indicators.

surely you'd think that if we can't see them (because its dark) they can't see us unless they have some super human (zombie) sight or something.

During the nighttime you become harder to see (your visibility goes down), so it DOES affect zed in that manner. It's still not as significant a change for them as day to night is for us, though.

So a Z aggros you based on 2 meters. Sight and sound. The more sound you make the further you need to be away to avoid them attacking. The more visible you are you further away you need to be if they are looking your direction.

At night you are less visible, so yes they are in the same situation as you, however sound could still agggro them easily. So when its dark, as long as you are taking it slow, you will find it easier to get about.

It also seems like the torch doesnt aggro zombies when you shine it on them. Is this always the case or did i just get lucky? But then as soo0n as you have your torch on you are a walking target for bandits! Swings and roundabouts....
