Is there a reason why tons of Zombies gather in small towns?

Recommended Posts

I mean realistically, there shouldn't be 20+ zombies in a town with 5 houses right? And then 10 more spawn after clearing the town and entering a house, how does that make sense? I get that playability needs to trump realism, but this seems to be hampering both.

My apologies if this is a known issue/bug. It's the observation of a new player...

Inbreeding.

On a serious note I think the number of zombies are effected by the amount of loot around them.

(don't quote me on that)

My understanding of the mechanics is dead Z's are not counted in the total number of Z's that can spawn per player at any one time. As soon as you kill 1 Z and move within the zone of location which causes Z's to spawn, you will trigger another Z. I like it because it stops players just mowing down all the Z's in a town and then freely looting.

If you want a real world 'reason' why this happens.. maybe the newly spawned Z's heard the gunfire in the town and ambled in from the nearby countryside..

It kinda does make sense, I guess. In small towns like that, you'll find it's mostly families... That's 2-5 people per house. A couple of Z's/currently infected runaways make their way into town, infect everyone, only a small handful have the good fortunte to chase another survivor out into the woods and the rest remain staggering around their homes and places of business.

I spose it's fairly logical.
