ninami 37 Posted July 3, 2012 Seriously, I can't think of something else that ruins DayZ more than server hoppers. I mean, I finally get my Ghillie suit for the first time, going around looting Deer Stands and decide to go for the small airport. Camping outside for a while to see if any players are nearby. Looking around with my binocular, no zombies spawned, so no players nearby. I carefully go to both hangars and find some stuff, I accidentally aggroed a zombie and he breaks my legs so I start crawling towards the watch tower. While I'm crawling, I see someone just appearing in front of me, surprised me and shot me... While my "sand timer" ticks down I see him logging off and leave. So yeah, I'm getting real emo when I get killed by fucking retards who can't play the game like it's meant to be played. Sure if someone was already there, saw me and then shot me, no problem. But he fucking appeared, shot me and disconnected... Fun times.I really hope Rocket finds a good way to solve this problem, along with pvp log offs.
kzrts 3 Posted July 3, 2012 What I'm afraid of is that disconnecting to avoid death is a common advice given to new players, and has been assimilated as a "feature" of the game by some players...It reminds me of that friend who used to play Diablo II in hardcore mode with a Trainer cheat that killed diablo2.exe process when you're HP were low, he didn't feel like he was cheating... DeadManDan 23 Posted July 3, 2012 Well if you're up to it I recommend getting sniper and just camping out server hopper locations and picking them off as they connect. Of course that will require lots of patience.Nothing like vengeful bloodletting to bring out a smile.
iidunno 0 Posted July 3, 2012 99% of the time I die is at the NW airfield will being over watched by people on my team, how the other players get in is they server hop in the firehouse or any other building and shoot me.
hazedaze 89 Posted July 3, 2012 you are totally right and I agree about hoppers (who doesnt?..)but at this stage of mod I think dev team focuses more on improving engine with beta and making zombies better etc etc.. hoppers are destroying the experience but what can be done. not getting attached to gear is the best solution for any player and only thing I learn. just enjoy the little situations and have fun :D It should be easy to get rid of server hopping - dcing once devs focus it. WalkerDown (DayZ) 296 Posted July 3, 2012 Who told ya he was a server hopper? He may be just loggin there... he seen you and you died. You didn't died because of a server hopper, i mean the circumstance is not relevant, he didn't moved back to your position while he was already on your server before, he just spawned there and you got unlucky to find on your path a spawing player. Also you managed to break a leg in the NW airfield.. you have been lucky enough to manage to return back crawling, so be happy to have survived 5 minutes more. :D

So I know he logged off, even if he wasn't a server hopper, he still did a PvP log off which is equally bad. I know the dev team is focusing on other, more important things than this. But its just so frustrating that an exploit like this, completely ruins the reason to play... I mean the reason to play is to have fun of course but using exploits is not acceptable at all, even Rocket said that himself. Just because there's an exploit in the game, doesn't mean you have to use it...And not getting attached to gear is very good advice :P Since we all die at some point, whether it's from zombies, players or annoying bugs :P
core.- 28 Posted July 4, 2012 People like that wont ever have a good story to tell. And they will realize it sooner or later. This game comes down to experiences and moments. No one i know appreciates a story that ends with "and I quickly logged"Even when logging out in the fire house at NW due to either lag, server disconnect or my game crashing, when I come back in, ill stay regardless of being surrounded by 3-4 people accepting the cards i have been dealt. (Normally I wouldnt be caught dead logging out in the damn fire station at NW :P)
