I guess the bottom line is that we have the server architecture we have, and it's a bit late for BI to rethink it - with the possible exception of requiring providers to maintain 'public servers' on the same IP, etc, in a more draconian way...?

BTW, I don't set up cache sites because I think I am in control of anything.  I do it because I know I am NOT in control, some other asshole is.  When that other asshole (who is sometimes me, who hasn't had a death by misadventure in DayZ?) fucks me up I have a place to go to gear up fast.  If a player finds a cache site I have set up good for him, most times they are a gold mine with nice gear.  I don't stash junk in my cache sites. Preppers don't prep because they think they are in control, they prep because, well, democrats and republicans
