-Freshmeat 0 Posted August 2, 2016 I went back after several months of inactivity, hopped on a private server and got quite lucky: M1911 and Glock 17, both with mags and ammo. However, the rounds are dropping out of the magazines of the loaded guns, showing up one by one in the inventory. I think it only happens if I run around with the pistol in my hand, and I have not had a chance to get my hand on a long gun. Is this a glitch, a known bug, or a feature? Thanks in advance. The Feral Kid 13 Posted August 2, 2016 (edited) There is a new mechanic where you have to manually cycle the bolt after each shot for bolt action rifles (and pump shotguns). This loads the next bullet into the chamber. You can also use it to clear the chamber if your weapon jams (including automatic and semi-automatic weapons). The key to do this is R. If you press R a single round will be ejected from the chamber, and the next will be loaded (if available). I think you are probably pressing R by accident (or it may be another key if you have changed keybindings). Edited August 2, 2016 by The Feral Kid

Not so sure about that. Although the R key could be the problem, I have noticed a single round in my inventory after logging in with my FNX in hand and I didnt hit the R key. I think during the logon animation where your character cycles the action, if you have the gun in hand, it kicks out the round thats in the chamber. It doesn't happen every time but it happens quite often. If you suddenly find there are many single rounds in your inventory try checking each time you hop servers. They might just be adding up. If its something else, IDK. Edited August 2, 2016 by Judged_Guitly Addition

(when you hold a weapon without a mag and you have a mag on you pressing F will attach it.. after firing a bolt action pressing R will reload it.. reloading your rifle while a shell or round is loaded will either drop it on the ground next to you.. or in your inventory (if you have space)
-Freshmeat 0 Posted August 3, 2016 Thanks a lot, that makes sense. I have remapped the keys (ESDF movement) and R is mapped to "use", but I had not paid attention to something like "cycle weapon". Cheers, -Freshmeat

Very long time ago, when I started to play games with a leaning mechanic, I remapped to get more keys within the reach of my ring and little finger. Been playing like that since something like the turn of the century, remapping every shooter I came across. I also use to have crouch on RMB, but for DayZ I went to the trouble of constructing a foot controller for the different stances, freelook and forward. Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted August 3, 2016 ESDF opens at least three new keys for your pinkie. It makes CTRL a bit more of a pain, but you're not using that to crouch in DayZ anyway. Also, maybe he's allergic to wasps? =)
