Hello. I'm new to editing DayZ videos and I'm looking for some constructive criticism. Sometimes insight from another perspective can help A LOT!

Thanks

I think the start was very strong and I liked how you told the story without narrative. The switch to playing with your friend and the talking completely ruined the atmosphere for me. Too much of a style break.

Good job on the start though, if you could finish from there, explaining the infected and your survivor gradually going from mere surviving to being a infected slayer or hero helping / saving others would be a more interesting product.

Just my opinion of course.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated, I need it to question what I did and to perform better in the future.

What I wanted to do with that "switch" you are talking about is that the intro was showing what happened, in some way, then comes the 2 second channel image and then comes what is happening right now. Us surviving and handling with zombies. If that isn't obvious to others then I haven't done it in a proper way.

One question. Do you think that a simple few second text saying something like "250 days later" for an example would explain it or fix that bad switch, in some way, or should I, next time, try to find a way to explain it better visually and maybe through editing?

Well, imo it would only make sense if there was already a narrative in the first part (your voice as voice over maybe?) and then the 250 days later, already having heard your voice it would make it more logical.

Doesn't take away from the fact that there still will be a style break between the first and second section. Mostly I guess because in the 1st section we watch "you" from a 3rd person perspective and later switch to you watching things through your eyes. It's not consistent.

But I want to mix out cinematics with me actually playing. I have seen a lot of people having cinematic intros / outros and then playing inbetween.

I kind of see what you are trying to say though.
