warning: illegal copies may degrade?

Recommended Posts

When playing DayZ I constantly receive the message "warning: illegal copies may degrade" I didn't think much of it and continued playing. It began to bug me so I looked online and found a video.

ARMA 2 copy protection FADE:

In this video the aiming is way off. In DayZ I have found my aiming to be horribly inaccurate. I thought it was just because of alpha. After seeing this video I think the copy protection or whatever thinks I have an illegal copy. If I right click the game in Steam it has an option to register. Do I need to register the game or what? Thanks for any help.

My installation:

I bought the steam version of combined operations 6 days ago. I installed the 94364 beta patch and made the @DayZ/Addons folder etc. To launch the game using beta and the mod I followed the DayZ install wiki.

http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_install_DayZ

3. Go to the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory (for example C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead) and right-click -> edit on .cmd file "_runA2CO_beta.cmd". Search for ":run" near the end of the file. Add ";@dayz" without quotes to "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca".

4. Run "_runA2CO_beta.cmd" and enjoy playing!

----edit----

Uninstalling the old beta. Verifying the game files. Installing the latest beta. Seems to have fixed it for now. Hopefully overtime I don't see the message pop up again. :)

I was wondering about this as well, I have been getting this message since replacing the arma2oe.exe with the beta version. My game is bought on Steam and perfectly legit, does the message mean your copy is degrading? Because if so, I'm kind of annoyed that I'm suffering for using an official beta patch. :/

I've been having some similar problems. Do you use the Six Updater Suite they Recommended?

Ever since I've started using that, my screen goes all wobbly and melty. At first I thought it was in game heat that was added for realism or something but then I noticed it wasn't on any youtube videos. I bought the combined operations through Steam the same as you but I don't open Steam when I use the Six Launcher, could that be what's happening?

Ignore it, it happens to everyone it's just a Battleye advertisement.
