Where are the Official servers where i can keep my gear?

So, I paid for this game and waited a few weeks to be able to play it. Now im finding that there really isnt a point to any of it.

I made a few good characters that had decent gear and were prepared to take care of themselves. I find that the server im in is totally empty and decide its time to move to a more populated server to have the game experience I want. The next thing I know, all my stuff is gone and I have to start over...

So how exactly does this work? I had a glock 19 with two mags and more than sixty rounds, I think thats a good start. But whats the point if I cant keep it?

Simply, I want the servers where I can have my stuff and keep it and still be able to play with other people without fear of having my whole game experience become invalid.

You were probably either on a glitched server or a private hive server.  In either case you won't be able to transfer to an official server, but if you go back to that same server you should have your gear.  It's also possible you jumped from a low pop public server onto a high pop private server.  The server should say whether it's private or public hive in the server list.
