How to find out the server settings before joining

Recommended Posts

How can you tell if a server has Side Chat in-game or if it doesn't?

I know many don't prefer side chat, but with the broken karma system, side chat is the only way to find a reason why "not" shoot someone within a distance away from you.

I know some servers have the 3RD: ON /OFF CH: ON /OFF and NT: ON / OFF

3RD: obviously 3rd person view

CH: ??? (Chat??)

NT: Night time

Those are my guesses

Sadly you have to join and check, i know of no way to see that in the server list.

I could be 100% wrong but I believe sidechat is blocked on all servers and only determined by the beta version you are running on your machine. I've seen a few folks type in sidechat on a server but I still didn't have the option to do so and no one ever replied to their chatter.

EDIT: Ok, it looks like sidechat was blocked starting with one of the recent betas, and since Day Z now requires the latest beta patch, this means it is blocked for everyone. However, there was a bug that if exploited allowed someone to use sidechat but it was fixed in the newest beta (94444).
