DayZ.exe - game crashes at the 0 byte, error message inside

Recommended Posts

The instruction at 0x0000000 referenced memory at 0x0000000. The memory could not be written.

Ok, so this is obviously fucking bonkers. Game crashes on the 0 byte. Is this what I paid for?

Running windows 8.1 64 bit, 8gigs of RAM, integrated card is intel hd 5500 and the high performance graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 920M. CPU is Intel i7 5500U @ 2.4GHz.

Graphics drivers up to date. Also DirectX and all the other redistributables that come with all games on Steam.

Is there any help for this madness?

You can try Verifying the Integrity of your Game Cache, go into your steam library, right-click DayZ, click properties, select the Local Files tab and then verify.  If something in the game files is messed up it should find it and replace it.  While you're in those properties tabs, go into General Tab and click launch options, make sure there's nothing in there  (some options are outdated and have the potential to screw things up).  Also, if you use an aftermarket(?) antivirus then try temporarily disabling it once, before starting DayZ just to be sure that it's not interfering with the game launch.  Good luck.
