Problem with my controls. . .

Recommended Posts

Still new to DayZ, turned it on and off again everyonce in awhile.

turned it on tonight to check out the new patch, and i cannot move around, unless i hold down the movement keys, and then it goes on auto run which does not switch off.

I have no idea why this happening, i have tried messing with the controls in the settings.

Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated, sorry if this is a "noob" question...but it is highly frustrating.

Thank you.

This could be desync, but although i haven't tried out the new patch, i didn't think there was an autorun feature.

How long do you run for?  A few seconds, or until infinity?  IF it's until infinity then i'm guessing you've either got a stuck key or there has been an autorun implemented.  IF its a few seconds then its probably just desync and this is due to either alpha, your connection or a combination.

Are your keys sticking by chance?  Go into notepad, hold down the W key or move key you use, and see if it registers a sticking key.  If it is sticking, try disconnecting and re-connecting your keyboard.  If you drink around it and spill shit on it regularly then consider cleaning it.

Alternatively, you may be double-tapping certain keys and it may force an 'always on' state.  Again i didn't think this happened for movement, but it does happen for things like L-Alt (move head), where doubletapping L-Alt will make your mouse control only your neck, not your hips as they do normally.

None of my keys are sticking, and it doesn't happen in any other games i play. I opened notepad, and the keys work fine. It just runs till infinity pretty much. I can move and turn, but i cannot stop moving once i have started. I made sure to not double tap any keys, and still same thing. This has also never happened before when attempting to play the game. So i have no clue what it oculd be.

Strange indeed.  Like i said, i haven't played .59 yet.

Anyone else may be able to suggest something?

Alternatively it could be a new bug.  This happened for me in several other games, sometimes pushing the key that activates the motion that is stuck causes the program to stop the infinite loop.

IE: you press W to move forwards, game thinks W key is still depressed.  Press W key to stop because it registers a second input, and stops.

This could be a quickfix for you, but may not solve the issue.

Probably a bug from my guess then.

This happens to me occassionally, and I've yet to figure out what causes it, but it's definitely down to either holding down W for too long or double tapping it to hard run. Easiest way for me to get it working it so double tap (or mash fervently, depending on the situation) the key that would take me in the opposite direction and it normally sorts it out.
