dayz is not real life tho. that seems to be a general missconception, oddly.

 

I believe they just want to make knifes "more viable". possibly a temporary decision

I believe they will put the ability to rip shirts into rags back in; the perk to using a knife later on to rip shirts into rags is you get more rags.
