constant surprises

ok so ive been playing this game for a while now and I love the concept of it and I love how bad ass it is and while I understand its in alpha and such I'm just  getting more and more frustrated with it.

ive purposefully been going on empty servers to learn and gear up because I'm so new to it. but I find myself dying from climbing scaffolds that I haven't fallen off of... I started the game up and there was my character with all his great new gear and I log on as normal and all of a sudden my gear is no where to be seen and I have to start from scratch all over again.

I gotta ask has any one else had this trouble? and if so how did you fix it or avoid this happening?

You have to look what server you choose.

There are:

- 1st person/3rd person PUBLIC hive

- 1st person PUBLIC hive

- 1st person/3rd person PRIVATE hive

- 1st person PRIVATE hive

On the public servers, you have always the same character - one for 1st/3rd person and one for 1st person.

On the private servers, you have one character for this specific private server. If you join another private, you will start as a freshspawn. Some communities have more private servers, which are sharing one hive, so can play with one char on multiple servers - but that's an exception.

Normally you have one char per private hive.

You also have to choose your log point wisely. You can get killed nearly everywhere while logging out or in. But in the woods, for example, it's less dangerous. Hope that helps.

edit: The part with falling of scaffolds is (mostly) cause by the desync between the player and the server. There are no optimizations yet.

Choose a server with a good ping, that helps, but it can happend anyway.

This kinda happened to my buddy last night... we were at NWAF, he was laying at the top of the fire station tower b/c he had a scoped Blaze. We hadn't heard any shots/seen any ppl for like an hr, so we were gonna call it a night. He goes to start climbing down, and all of a sudden he says "I'm dead". We heard no shots, and he said he was just crawling to the ladder when it happened... so I climb up there, and sure enough, he's laying dead up there and his pants/boots are ruined, which means he desynced through the floor and died.

The worst part was when I tried to pull things off his body, it wouldn't let me b/c even though I saw him on the roof, his body was probably actually a floor down

But yea, this type of thing has happened to me a lot. Not as frequently lately, but in the past it was terrible... some notable places it's happened to me multiple times is when walking around the staircase inside fire stations and the stairs to the roof of police stations. It can pretty much happen anywhere you're elevated, although even not elevated you can die... I walked into a chicken coup once and the second I stepped over the doorway, BAM - "You are dead."

Alpha :/
